Freshers
Don't go it alone! Unite can help you through your time as a student. We could be established in your university now.
Find usWhilst more students continue to take part time jobs, it's younger people that are more likely to face discrimination and bullying at work. That's why Unite has launched its working students campaign and this website with useful information about workers rights, the minimum wage, break and holiday entitlement plus tips for freshers on how to make friends and get involved with university activities.
The campaign encourages students to form a society. Recognised by the student union, you'll have access to facilities such as press, meeting rooms, offices and sports equipment.
We're now heading to freshers' fairs to launch the campaign. We’ll be urging Fresher’s to join Unite for empowerment at work as well as Security and Protection – you’ll not only know your rights, they will be enforced! We've already set up societies at Durham and Birmingham and we plan to have a society in every university by 2009 - make sure you look out for us at your freshers' fair!
